Angkor Wat, one of the seven wonders of the natural world, is the oldest and largest religious compound on Earth.  Located a couple of hours away from the Cambodian border, it is filled with expansive temples, some taken over by the jungle and the trees. The whole area also has many schools and residential facilities within the compounds.  Buddhist monks make the daily pilgrimage here by walking from near by Siam Reap where I was staying.  I spent a fair amount of time talking with the Buddhist monks and they were some of the coolest and nicest people I have ever met.  I was going to join the monastery but I didn’t want to shave my head and I love my material possessions too much.  Maybe next time.
